Shen Yin Wang Zuo, Chapter 229

Chapter 229: Forbidden Spell! The Moon Demon God’s Descent (II)

The Moon Demon God’s descent was accompanied by an incomparably strong aura of power, but the weird thing was that it appeared completely silent.

That massive purple-colored moon retracted at fast speed, and in a little moment, all its splendor vanished. All that remained was nothing more but a wide halo of light.

The moonlight had spread to a diameter of a thousand meters, and within this scope, not a single living enemy remained, be it on the ground or in the sky.

After they underwent this forbidden spell’s bombardment, only about 10,000 demons were left of this enormous army of 50,000. And facing this purple halo, they weren’t able to muster the slightest courage to attack for now.

“Xiaoxiao, drive the carriage. Mages, get in, and close range fighters, follow. It’s time to break out!” Yue Ye’s figure appeared once again on the carriage’s roof. Her face was deathly pale, of an unhealthy white color. She trembled as she hunched forward, and blood was flowing from the seven apertures of her snowy white face. Regardless of how beautiful she originally was, right now, she just appeared unsightly and mournful.

But even at that time, with her body being close to collapse, she still remained clear-headed as she made the necessary arrangements.

Just like Long Haochen guessed, the moment right after the forbidden spell’s completion was the best chance to break out. The great army of demons was in such a terrified state that even though a large quantity of goods had to be abandoned, this was their best opportunity to escape.

Long Haochen gave his teammates a glance and they immediately mounted the carriage without hesitation. This carriage was extremely broad, and would have no problem accommodating twenty people. It wasn’t pulled by ordinary horses either, but Unwavering Manes. This sort of magical beast didn’t have any offensive abilities, but possessed an extremely good endurance, and fit all types of terrains. Even in the desert, they would be a lot more useful than camels; additionally, their imposing build made them at least one third of a meter taller than ordinary fine horses.

Yue Ye’s carriage was pulled by sixteen Unwavering Manes. Although the previous battle was quite severe, the Unwavering Manes were fabulously protected by the mages, which was the absolute order Yue Ye gave them. The Unwavering Manes were after all their ultimate hope for breaking out.

No one contested, and of the Demon Hunt Squads, Luc Xi, Yi Jun, Bai Xiaomo, Lin Xin and Chen Ying’er took the lead to hurriedly enter in the carriage. It could be said that, if not for the exceptional display of the two Demon Hunt Squads, the twenty mages of the caravan wouldn’t have survived this attack. In particular, Long Haochen’s heroic display of self-sacrifice caused these mages to admire him sincerely.

The close-quarters vocations didn’t get on, but surrounded the carriage. Long Haochen spoke to the nearby Li Xin, “Sis, let’s go to the front and rush out from there. The other close-quarters fighters, get on. Defend the carriage!”

All the close quarters fighters currently belonging to the two Demon Hunt Squads immediately complied to Long Haochen’s order.

Haoyue’s six eyes were clearly duller than normal. Before summoning him, Long Haochen had had Haoyue prepare his Essence of the Disorder through their mental connection. Otherwise, how could he attack with such a formidable bursting power in the instant he was summoned?

Due to the fact he used an ability of a higher step than his own, in addition to his previous fusion with Long Haochen, he was naturally exhausted. But although his own consumption was quite big, by chance, Haoyue’s strength grew as a whole since the previous battle, as he evolved to some extent. At the present time, this was what allowed him to maintain a certain fighting strength.

Yue Yu jumped with Leng Xiao’s support on the coachman’s seat. Leng Xiao wasn’t familiar with driving a carriage, but she had a very wild natural temper! As she waved the horsewhip, the Unwavering Manes obediently ran into the direction she directed. In this bloody night, they couldn’t even pay attention to the direction they were heading to, as their very top priority was to escape.

Yue Ye leaned on Leng Xiao and looked at Long Haochen who was riding on Haoyue.

Cai’er didn’t enter the carriage, but stood calmly at Yue Ye’s side. In case Long Haochen was stopped by an enemy, she would undoubtedly be the first one to intervene.

Meanwhile, Luc Xi was leaning out of the carriage’s window, silently waving his staff to send a glinting pure white radiance, enveloping Long Haochen as well as Haoyue.

This was the first time Long Haochen enjoyed the full power of the healing a priest at the fifth step could provide. He didn’t know what ability Luc Xi was currently using, but with Luc Xi’s healing, his previous enormous consumption of internal spiritual energy was being restored at an astonishing speed. Even the aftereffects of the use of the ability Sacrifice were also healed.

Even if Han Yu learned even more healing abilities, he was in the end a Guardian Knight, and not a real priest. The utility of a formidable priest in a team wasn’t something that could be replaced that easily.

Leng Xiao watched the healing magic being cast at her side and wrinkled her brows, asking in a low voice full of loathing, “Are you the one who invited them as guards?”

Yue Ye shook her head, revealing a complex expression.

All the remaining demons were completely terrified by the previous forbidden spell that appeared to them like an apocalypse, but it was after all an army of 10,000, and one that surrounded them from all directions. Considering their numbers, a confrontation would be unavoidable, if Long Haochen’s group wanted to break out.

“Ying’er!” It could be seen that the distance to the frantic army of demons had reduced to only a hundred meters, as Long Haochen suddenly shouted.

“Gotcha.” Chen Ying’er replied in her cute voice. Hearing it, Yue Ye, Leng Xiao as well as the caravan’s mages didn’t find it particularly strange. But the members of the two Demon Hunt Squads were really surprised when they saw this female summoner approach the window.

Starting from the beginning of the battle to now, Chen Ying’er had only been staying by Lin Xin’s side, and even if the battle was so intense, she hadn’t done anything at all.

The 4th soldier grade Demon Hunt Squad somewhat understood the situation, as they knew that this girl was not very reliable as a summoner. They didn’t mind it, but what they didn’t know was that now that she possessed a contracted beast like the Mythic Mirror Image Treasure Pig, she wasn’t so weak anymore. Furthermore, her teammates also remembered the instruction Long Haochen gave her before the fight started. Originally they had thought that he wanted her to intervene the least possible and to preserve her magical crystals. But now that they thought about it, it couldn’t be so simple! Otherwise, why would Long Haochen call out to her right at the moment of their sortie?

Chen Ying’er’s move was fast. She fed the Mythic Mirror Image Treasure Pig the magical crystal of a magical beast of the fifth step, and the Mythic Mirror Image Treasure Pig’s body suddenly lit up with a silver-colored radiance.

This silvery light was different from the one spatial attribute mages usually released. Under normal conditions, their magic would emit a pure silver color, but the ripples surrounding Chen Ying’er and her Mythic Mirror Image Treasure Pig possessed the color of silvery starlight, a quite fantastic color. McDull, formerly lazily nestling against Chen Ying’er’s bosom, ate the magical crystal readily. Then, his spiritual force suddenly metamorphosed. Under the halo of starlight colored magic, his body suddenly floated up from within the carriage.

Chen Ying’er murmured something in a low voice. While the silvery light was released from the Mythic Mirror Image Treasure Pig, Chen Ying’er’s eyes brilliantly lit up in the same starlight color. Then, everyone around felt the strong mental fluctuations her body emitted in large numbers. The army of demons was in a frenetic state, but in the end, they were incredibly dominant in number, and the terror they felt gradually weakened with the disappearance of the forbidden spell’s effects. As long as they were aroused by the reeking of blood and the prospect of a new battle, their fighting power would very rapidly recover. Breaking out from the encirclement would clearly not be so easy to be done. Leng Xiao and Yue Ye wrinkled their brows: they had already been sparing no efforts, and at that time, Yue Ye couldn’t use any force. Her substantial consumption of mental power could already cause her to lose consciousness at any time. Luc Xi’s healing wasn’t directed at her, but even if he was willing to heal her, she wouldn’t dare accept! Regardless of whether it was Yue Ye or Leng Xiao, the two of them had darkness as their main attribute. Accepting to be healed by a priest’s sacred magic, wouldn’t it be akin to courting death? As Leng Xiao urged on the draught beasts, her mental capacity was already reaching its limit, and in the carriage, the caravan’s mages tried to call forth the little spiritual energy they had left, making their preparation to release their magical power to attack at any time.

From the looks of it, in the top front, Long Haochen and Li Xin would soon encounter the first demons. But suddenly, a resonant dragon cry resounded, shaking them completely.

In the dim night, an indistinct black silhouette appeared, and the approaching dragon roar coming along didn’t miss to attract all the demons’ attention.

Thick scales, immense horns spiralling above its head, a pair of terrible wings that almost seemed able to cover the entire sky, and a frightful aura released from its eyes. That roaring creature was impressively a dark dragon. And its immense wings were suddenly flapped as it dove down as imposingly as a mountain towards the demon army. For every demon, it was the rule that the strongest dominated the weak ones, this was the cruel reality of the food chain system. And the one on the top of this chain was without a doubt the Demon God Emperor.

The Demon God Emperor had his own clan that shared his bloodline, which was called the Devil Dragon Clan. This was also the reason why he was called Devil Dragon Emperor, as devil dragons was the name given to the ones belonging to his tribe. The name humans gave them was a bit different. They simply called them ‘Black Dragons’.

The fact that the Demon God Emperor was able to rule the entire demon race in a such a stable manner wasn’t only due to his own strength, but it was also related to his own clan’s extremely important status.

The devil dragons weren’t numerous; even at their flourishing age, they didn’t exceed 2,000. But even a newly born Black Dragon would be innately a powerhouse of the seventh step. A grown-up one would reach the terrible eighth step, without need for specific efforts. As for the ones that would reach the ninth step, they were the direct subordinates of the Demon God Emperor Feng Xiu, the so called Black Dragon Forces.

Some things are worth fighting for. 😉

  • ShelfCloud

Thank you very much for the chapter!

Finally Luc Xi is useful for something…. Thoug I have to admit a good priest is really valuable. That LHC’s team does not have someone like that is really their biggest problem. Han Yu can’t compensate for everything and I am curious how they will deal with this in the future.

    • Jonathan Hurd

It is nice to finally see Luc Xi put his money where his mouth is and be useful. I think there are certain benefits to having Han Yu instead admittedly because they have even more offensive power and the support of another mount. Having Han Yu and Sima Xian added to the front liners they have the most formidable vanguard of all the teams we have seen thus far. Thankfully Hao Yue has also shown he can do some of the most important utility work that priests add like those Eyes of Truth. Who knows as Hao Yue evolves more he might be able to not only take the role of the mage for their team but also priest.

      • Luke Confidential

The 21st General Grade Demon Hunt Squad does lack a True Priest’s full healing potential, but they have a LOT of supplementary support available to them.

Han Yu, Long Haochen, Little Light, Big Bro Has Drugs all have some degree healing and support magic or alchemy.

I believe it was mentioned [though I could be mistaken] that now that he’s reached the 5th step, Sima Xian CAN do some healing as well, just that he’s more of a supplementary healer than a true healer. Not 100% certain though.

Lastly, this team is incredibly good at stacking burst power where it’s needed, whether for offense or defense.

The one missing piece is the summoner is kind of a drag, but it’s looking like she’s about to pull her weight in this encounter.

        • Robin

You are right, they do not lack support. The thing is that when Haochen or Cai’er dish out their superior techniques normal support doesn’t seem to be enough to cover the damage. I also remember reading that Sima Xian now is able to learn more healing abilities and Gao Xingye also advised him to. If that will be enough when our MC and Cai’er fight like this is something we will see in time.

Oh yes, she will! The question is what kind of magical beast/demon McDull will transform in/copy. 😉

          • Jonathan Hurd

Piggy to the rescue! I guess the person who needs to prove themselves now is no longer Ying’er but more Sima Xian. We’ll have to see if he can add enough to the team to make up for his lack of healing abilities within it. If he has gained some actual healing that would be pretty bad ass since then he and Han Yu can switch places in the support role depending on the situation. Need more defense? Han Yu front Sima Xian back. Need more offense? Sima Xian front and Han Yu in back.

I gotta admit I love how this team is shaping up. I am especially looking forward to seeing just what it meant by Ying’er learning all the spells when she hits 7th step and I would bet that the treasure seeking part of her piggy is going to come in handy for finding more gems for Wang Yuan’s shield.

          • Robin

Oh yes! After this fight she will no longer be the incompetent summoner. And with the piggy she is no longer unrelialable as well. We know that Han Yu is a good fighter, the only one who can almost rival Haochen as a forward. If Sima Xian is able to shoulder more of the support/healing the offensive power of the team should rise again. Especially since knights seem to be able to use a certain amount of support abilities with healing effect while fighting as long as they are strong enough. Sima Xian has a big task comming his way. 😉

The team develops slower than for example the Seven Devils but their teamwork is not completely induced by one person only or suggested by an outside source like Grandmaster. But this makes it more intimate and prone to struggles and problems. And yes, who is better suited to raid a dungeon than a tracking treasure seeking pig? I mean, there is a reason why humans use piggies for truffle hunting. Why not for crystal an gold hunting as well?

          • Jonathan Hurd

Gotta admit I love the Shrek Seven Devils. They are all important but Tang San really does kind of out shine everyone. My favorite part of Combat Continent is their team fights. The sheer timing and coordination is superb. Though Tang San in pissed mode is freaking amazing, hehe. This one the fights are more hectic because they are in war situations more than team competitions but still love how the team is coming together. I would say LHC’s teams understanding of each other is coming a little bit slower than the Seven Devils, but the Seven Devils did have Grandmaster as an outside source and a few months fighting one another and team exercises under Grandmaster then the whole month straight of Arena battles to help coordinate. So I would say speaking of overall time fought together LHC’s team has been kind of lacking in opportunities thanks to peoples injuries. So definitely with a little more time and development of more skills I think everyone will naturally start to shine even more.

          • Robin

Exactly. I love the Devils as well. And the strategies he developes for their fights are truly amazing! But additionally to the time they spent fighting each other – what most of Haochen’s team never did – and learning about each others abilities and weaknesses, as well as Grandmaster’s detailed instructions, Tang San possesses the experience of two lifetimes. Organized team battles are no big challenge for him and during the only war situation we have seen him in so far, he mainly fought solo. Haochen received torturous training from his father as well as from his teacher but all of this was mainly focused on his own personal strength and happened before the team was formed. Even Gao Xingye concentrated his advise on him and let him decide which commands he would give to his team. This is a different approach than with the Devils where Tang San’s opinion is treasured but in the beginning not the most important one. And the time they spent with their leader is considerably short. And Haochen lost 49 days of it due to his absorption of the Light Fairy. Give them some time and they will rock. ^^

          • Jonathan Hurd

I like LHC’s character as a guardian. From the very get go of the story he liked the idea of the Guardian Knight who could protect all that was important to him. Tang San is awesome to see as the mastermind/puppeteer kind of way as everything falls into his carefully laid plans, but I also like LHC’s desperate fight to keep everyone safe and his dogged determination that the only way a friend is going to die is by stepping over his cold body. Though Tang San definitely has that kind of resolve too. I would say the difference between the two for me is Tang San has the battle planned out much more meticulously while LHC is forced to adapt on the fly. Though there are some pretty easy parallels you can make based on how they fight. Always thinking and calculating as they fight. I think the big thing that probably differentiates them is Tang San is a Control/Power attacker while LHC is more Defense/Power attacker.

I feel that Hao Chen’s two Guardian Knight instructors have been pretty helpful to him. You had Asura Ye who helped him learn how to face overwhelmingly stronger opponents and deal with them. Gao Xingye helped pass on his experiences and considering what we learned about how Gao’s Demon Hunt squad ended up, I think it can only help LHC improve his ability to protect the others.

          • Robin

Tang San cares for his comrades and won’t let them die even if it means sacrificing himself, but he is no guardian. He is an offensive fighter in the truest sense of the word, but Haochen is a Guardian Knight from his heart. Therefore his way of leading is naturally different. I didn’t want to say that his teachers were bad. They imparted an important portion of knowledge and abilities to Haochen. But his training was nevertheless not as team centered as that of Tang San. And I am sure that there will be even more people supporting him from here on out.
I especially like that although the two stories share an obvious number of similarities there is still a different development and a different set of characters. What we are missing right now is a good antagonist to bring out the best of the 21st DHS. I think we can agree that Luc Xi is not really suited for this part. And the Demon God Emperor is at the moment too far away to be an immediate threat. I hope there will be an opponent of the same magnitude as the supreme pontiff.

          • Jonathan Hurd

Yeah, LHC needs a good Rival. It is a bit hard to mix that in sadly when he enters so many war situations and is also somewhat trying to keep low key so Hao Yue is not noticed. I think the Supreme Pontiff and the Demon God Emperor could be equated as the final big bads for both stories. The final hurdles the whole journey has been leading up to. LHC admittedly has had some people he needed to overcome like that brat whose father was in a rivalry with his teacher. Sadly that brat was too pathetic to hold a candle near LHC, lol. Then we had the leader of the second Solider Demon Hunt Squad Yang Wenzhao, but even he is not really able to compare to LHC now. Admittedly Tang San also has this problem of so out shining his rivals he needs new ones, but his seem to stick around a little longer. Maybe one of the Demon Gods will become like this for him just like how his father and the Fourth Demon God seem to have some sort of relationship.

Thank you to the sponsor and Toto :D.

Gotta say I love how far in advance LHC has been planning and how adaptable he is. From the very get go he had planned their way out and had Ying’er prepare it for them. Then seeing what Yue Ye was doing he changed to protecting her to increase their chances of survival. Never ignoring the situation and always thinking ahead. This was also shown in stark contrast to the rest of his teammates that ignored everything around them and just started trying to kill demons without care for future.

He has the best qualities that you can ask for in a leader if you ask me. Always clear headed. Pays attention to all factors around him even when fighting a powerful foe. He is also willing to put himself in the line of danger to protect others. Can’t wait for him to get stronger and hopefully be put in a position to lead more people. That’ll be fun to watch.

Mythical pig to save the day. Who needs black dragons. Thanks for the chapter

    thanks for the chapter~

  • Jonathan Hurd

Btw just gotta ask but am I the only one wondering about Leng Xiao. From how she talks and what the Golden Birdy Demon said it seems like she is a descendant of the Devil Dragon race. The problem is that they have clearly stated she is at the fifth step of cultivation when she was fighting the Golden Birdy Demon, but it says in this chapter even a newly born black dragon is innately a powerhouse of the seventh step…. So, hmm, not sure what that means.

Maybe she has suppressed her power? Could also be potentially a half Devil Dragon half something else, or her family has Devil dragon blood in it… Those are the theories I can come up with off the top of my head. Hard to understand how Demon lineage works at this point especially when the Demon God Emperor said he saw a successor when he scanned the humans. Though that might just involve converting a human into a demon like they talked about when the Demon God’s appeared.

    • I think the answers will be contain a spoiler, but i may say that new born black dragon mean purely demon bloodline, and you can guess that two girls is not 100% demon at all.

      • Jonathan Hurd

I am looking forward to learning more about both these ladies hopefully soon since the fight seems to be calming down. I kind of enjoy finding out more about the enemy it makes the situation much more complex than just they are bad we must kill them and gives them personality. I kind of like the relationship we found out about between the Demon God Emperor and the Demon God Slayers. Even if you can’t be friends you can respect each other.

    • Robin

I also fear that an exhausting answer would be a big spoiler, but so far we can only theorize. It is highly likely that she is a half-something. Seeing that she is completely allergic against the light attribute she won’t be a partially human halfling, but rather some demonkind mix. It will be interesting to learn what she is and how the demon emperor will react if he learns about this attack on his kin. Or maybe he already did?

      • Jonathan Hurd

I am also kind of curious how the Demon God Emperor will react to the actions of the tribes. From what the story has told us demon kind seems to work with the idea of the food chain. So there is a possibility that he could just consider Yue Ye’s being attacked a test of that where the weak die and the strong survive. I mean from what we know there are to many demons and not enough food so situations like this are probably inevitable. On the other hand from how Yue Ye and the the Golden Birdy Demon talked it seems like the tribes were going out of their way to eliminate all evidence and witnesses. Not sure if that has to do with not wanting retribution directly from the Yue clan or the Demon God Emperor.

The other thing to kind of consider is that I think Yue Ye is carrying something special intended for the Demon God Emperor so he might be pissed about losing that rather than them being attacked.

        • Robin

Well, I think Yue Yu is not the problem. Ok, we learn that the Yue clan is of considerable influence and power, and must have a solid structure or it wouldn’t have such connections with the human side and the wealth to finance a wealthy merchant group. And it seems that she is indeed carrying important goods in her spatial tool. But Leng Xiao is the one with the Demon Emperor’s blood. And it is the first time she accompanied Yue Yu on a business trip. I am not so sure that he will let the attack on her slip. I mean, there is this black dragon entering the stage. It could be an envoy or a guardian, don’t you think?
Naturally, as you pointed out, it is possible that the attack as such will not arouse his anger. Survival of the fittest is an obvious pattern between instint controled creatures, especially if there is an overpopulation. But if she is related to him and dark dragons are rare, he WILL care if she dies or not. Even more when her death would be caused by scheming demon tribes.

          • Jonathan Hurd

Hmm, hadn’t thought about the black dragon in that way admittedly. I kept thinking that was Yin’er’s piggy since they said the dragon didn’t release any kind of aura and the piggy shouldn’t be able to fully transform into things of the 7th step yet but I feel could potentially just do the shape. It would make sense if it was an actual Black Dragon which decided to follow Leng Xiao just like Cai’er’s grandpa did for her. Another hypothesis could be that Yue Ye’s clan hired this Black Dragon to rush to her since they suspected or heard about the district demons plot.

I would guess that the Demon Emperor would not be happy with direct relatives being lost since that would be a major loss in the Demons power considering how hard it is to get anyone up to the 9th step. Also from what they said about the Demon Emperor he has a certain amount of pride so I would also guess that he would not be willing to put up with such an affront to his honor as killing his kin and stealing what belongs to him. Thinking about it letting such things go would probably be seen as a sign of weakness. Even if doing that doesn’t have an effect on his status as a Lord I do not think he is the type to let something like that go.

          • Robin

It is indeed very likely that the dragon is a copy. Afterall, the pig saw the black dragons when the demons searched for Haoyue. But right now the other way is also a possibility. I doubt that he was hired. If they had the prospect of such a powerhouse comming at their call, they would surely have acted a little more sure of their success. But the desperation seems wholeheartedly. If it is a guard then the army is in trouble. If it is fake it depends on how fast the carriage can escape.

It is for sure a kind of rebellion against the Yue clan. To what extent it will be considered survivest of the fittest and regarded as desperate measure to survive, is not clear. But I am sure we will soon know. If it is a real envoy of the Demon God Emperor, there will be no demon left to tell the tale. And I guess the elimination of an army consisting of 50,000, including their strongest and most precious fighters will be a large setback for the provincial rulers.

          • Jonathan Hurd

I have the feeling it is highly likely this is the piggies copy though would be pretty bad ass to meet a fully grown member of the Devil Dragon race. I think what they are doing is taking advantage of the fact that the army has lost two of its leaders and four fifth’s of their giant army. The timing is just right to give them the final push to break what shreds of their fighting spirit remains, even if it is a lie. I don’t think the demons are in a good enough state of mind to stick around and find out what the hell these crazy people will throw at them next, lol. There is only one territory leader who can try and pull them back together and even he might not be willing to fight after seeing the two others who were on the same level as him be killed. Add to it that there is no assurances demons outside of his territory will listen to him and just the abject amount of fear they underwent by that 9th level spell then seeing something like this. There is a limit to what even starvation can push you to face.

          • Robin

I say you are completely right. It is the ultimate moment to frighten them into fleeing or at least letting them escape. There is another reason why it should be a copy. The 2 DHSs will be able to handle Yue Yu and Leng Xiao even if they react badly on finding out that they are enemies, but they wouldn’t be able to handle a full grown dragon sent by the emperor. Additionally, it would take too much to hide Haoyue from such a danger in plain sight. And Haoyue would surely have been the first to react to such an approaching danger

          • Jonathan Hurd

If it is a real fully grown dragon that would definitely mean all threat to the Demon Hunt Squards (outside of the dragon himself) would be completely gone. With that kind of escort you would need a demon god to threaten them and who in their right mind picks a fight with a direct subordinate of the Demon God Emperor.

I do have to say if Yue Ye and Leng Xiao are willing to turn on them at this point after LHC has stopped Yue Ye’s death at least three times then she is the most ungrateful bitch I have ever seen. I do not think Yue Ye is the type to completely lack all honor especially with all that LHC has done for her. She seems to be a merchant at heart and there is not much gain for betraying them when they can still be used and they need her. She needs strength to protect the caravan and they need a guide to get through the demon territory especially with ten thousand demons hanging around. Besides if she plays her cards right she might be able to establish a long term relationship and who doesn’t want these future power houses on your side? :D.

          • Robin

Yes, I share your thoughts. But the two demon grils have at least potential to become the next rival/opponent. Of course not right from the spot since they are exhausted and, as you pointed out, owe them, but in the long run it would be really interesting if they turn on them. They are strong enough and would bring an additional connection to the emperor. I don’t think Yue Yu is in for treachery either, but I am not that sure about Leng Xiao. Especially when she finds out that the emperor has an interest in them. What happens from now depends on the conclusion Yue Ye and Leng Xiao draw about their identities. I guess that Haochen and his group will seperate from the caravan as soon as the demon backup arrives when there is a chance that the tables will turn. With their identities and abilities exposed they won’t stay in a group of powerful demons if they have no agreement with their leader or a trump card up their sleeves.

          • Jonathan Hurd

I have to admit I like the idea of LHC having a rivalry with these two. I think the two together might be able to compare to LHC at least on some level. Leng Xiao has a blood line which would put her on par with LHC and Yue Ye seems smart enough to make up for Leng Xiao’s inexperience. I think when Yue Ye wakes up things are going to get pretty interesting to see how they act. Considering how Yue Ye is working as a freelance merchant I don’t think she has any extreme hatred for humans so there is a chance she would be willing to work with LHC and Co, but as you have pointed out LHC is kind of lacking a position of power to negotiate with. So if she is thinking along the lines of eliminating a future threat rather than gratitude for saving her life shit might get bad.

Probably just means that new borns will all have 70 innate spirit energy, so it takes time. Like how humans are all over the place, so they can be from 0 to highest possible. As for the Devil Dragon clan they will never be less than 70.

Hmm that is an interesting way to look at it. That could make sense since they have established quite a few times that demons can evolve to a more powerful form like with the Dark Green Dual bladed demons and such. Leng Xiao could still be in childhood phase and will evolve higher later. It does make some sense especially considering that even Austin Griffin started out pretty low level and attains his fearsome power through evolution though he can sometimes tap that potential to inspire fear in others like what Leng Xiao did to threaten the Birdy demons.

What is kind of funny though is I keep thinking about demons having kids and it just pops into my head… “Well when a mommy demon and a daddy demon love each other very much….” Then my brain starts trying to make my arms club itself for the mental images that inspired O.o.

Thank you very much Totobro and Sean!

  • Mr. White

    thx for the chapter

Why do I have the feeling that the ending of this novel is about hao chen and hao yue fighting against each other? Hao Yue’s true strength far surpasses the demon emperor, when the time comes that he fully gains his power, being a bad guy in his previous life gives me idea that he will be the final boss.

    • Anonymous

      But he’s a bro. 🙁

      • Jhay Belandres

Just a feeling man, considering everything that has been said about hao yue past life, it seems like the demon emperor is just an ant so it doesn’t really make sense for hao chen and hao yue to fight the demon emperor in the end. Hao chen could probably fight him 1 on 1 and hao yue won’t event need to move a finger to kill him.

        • Zalmor

Well every thing excluding the last part is right!!

    • termt

That’s going to be a bit hard, with the blood contract and all. Also, it seems like Hao Yue hates demons and they hate him, so he’d at most form a third faction.

      • OmegaGoodJob!

Right..aside from the blood contract the demons want Hao Yue dead knowing the temperament of LHC he would stand side with Hao Yue, and their relationship can be considered as father and son.

    • Jhay Belandres

Sorry guys but I am right. I read the end of the raws and Hao Yue is the final boss 🙂

Totobro, not being a *ick here, but can you do your utmost to ban, block or just delete comments that contain spoilers. I mean, what would be the use if *ssholes spoil the story for your lovely readers, who wait and expect what would happen on the next chapters. I just really hate the fact I got the ending spoiler. Thanks if you read this or tried to read this. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/844f436591e1802361518f07849be861d0f2ddb8e468e17e72ab6050a852e188.gif

    • dont worry this was not a spoiler but some bullshit. I deleted it though, since it was misleading

      • FudgeeBar

Wait, you sure?! Fuck, I’ve been drowning myself in rage because of that dickhead. FUCK!! TOTO, YOU THE BRO! I have a question though, how do I get the misleading bullshit out of my head?

        • Llamas

Binge read until the misleading bullshit is proven to be misleading bullshit.

          • FudgeeBar

No more chapters to binge read through though. Still saving it up. Also, that misleading bullshit is ‘connected’ to the last part. Unless Toto does a massive mass release, then I’ll just have to wait.
