Shen Yin Wang Zuo, Chapter 255

Shen Yin Wang Zuo, Chapter 255: Slaughter! (II)

After having come in contact for a rather long time, the members of the 4th soldier grade Demon Hunt Squads felt with great clarity the gap separating themselves from the 21st soldier grade Demon Hunt Squad. The pair of sweethearts and core of the team formed by Long Haochen and Cai’er had a sea-splitting impact. The other members also had powerful abilities to display, and moreover, were totally united.

This entire massacre lasted for only ten minutes, and Long Haochen didn’t let a single enemy escape. When the last enemy finally went down, slain by his Holy Spirit Sword while using Final Gambit.

All along, Long Haochen benefitted from the support of the loyal Light Element Fairy Yating, responding perfectly to her duty of helping him recuperate.

Not letting go of Cai’er on his back, Long Haochen dumped a pair of bloody crystals stuck to his heavy swords, heading back to the cave’s entrance along with Haoyue.

Long Haochen didn’t have any formidable recovery spell with crowd effect, but it didn’t mean that it was the same for Haoyue. From his initiative, an illumination of sacred light flooded every corner of the cavern.

“Prepare yourselves, everyone. I’ll clear the battlefield, so let’s depart from here at full speed.” Long Haochen’s voice sounded rough, and after he finished giving out these instructions, he turned back and walked out. While walking, he stored the corpses of every single Grand Fiend and their Nightmare Devil Horses inside Eternal Melody.

That’s right, the Pendant of Eternal Melody was also a storage tool. As for how large the space it encompassed, even with his current mental capacity, Long Haochen was unable to tell.

Having gone through the past massacre, Long Haochen had a more distinct feeling that every time he slaughtered a Grand Fiend, the counterpart’s soul would immediately be sucked into the Eternal Melody. And the soul energy he gained from the enemies he had just killed was even stronger than energy he received from the corpses of the previous battle. Since he couldn’t do anything about it, he could only ignore it right now. In truth, he didn’t have any real comprehension of the principle of soul energy.

Relying on the Eternal Melody, Long Haochen was fast to sweep through the battlefield. When he came back to the his comrades’ side, except from the still unconscious Dian Yan, everyone had recovered their ability to move.

After watching Long Haochen sweep through the battlefield without any difficulty, Lin Xin seemed to have recovered from remembering his painful memories. Having seen him collect all of the Grand Fiend’s and the Nightmare Devil Horses’ corpses, he couldn’t help but stare with wide eyes. When Haochen returned, he secretly signaled him to come over. With his back turned to the rest of the group, he waited for Haochen.

Long Haochen gave him a glance before silently looking down.

“How is everyone?” Long Haochen asked.

Han Yu replied, “Except from Dian Yan that suffered serious injuries, no one should have problems walking, only, to keep battling will be quite challenging. Yuanyuan, Sima and I took Bloodthirsty and Spiritual Bursting Pills. I’m also afraid that Ying’er’s little pig, McDull, is in quite a bad shape, and will not be able to keep absorbing magical crystals to join the battle. ”

Luc Xi replied, “Our side is in a better situation, Han Daosi and Li Xin can still keep fighting, but Yi Jun ignited his own vital force, and is thus unconscious and recovering his spiritual energy. I will need at least three more hours to launch my crowd-effective healing spell again. Dian Yan will at least need seven days of treatment before barely recovering some fighting strength. Xiaomo is pretty much the same as me, and will regain some spiritual energy in approximately three more hours.”

Although this battle ended without any deaths, it could be said to have been a total tragedy for their side. The only ones that still had the strength to keep fighting were the trio of Long Haochen, Li Xin and Han Daosi’s. Cai’er, who had lost four of her senses for a full duration of seven months, was even more pitiful than the seriously injured Dian Yan.

Long Haochen calmly nodded, declaring after some time of reflection, “I will have Haoyue carry Dian Yan and Yi Jun, and we will immediately set off. After advancing more deeply into the mountains, without staying close to such a conspicuous spot as the Desolate Hissing Cavern, we should be able to easily conceal ourselves. There, we’ll wait for everyone to recover some strength before attempting to head back.”

Luc Xi silently nodded in response, looking at Long Haochen with some hesitation.

Long Haochen knew what he was thinking of, “Right before, I recorded my exploration of the Desolate Hissing Cavern, and this is clearly not a place we are able to explore thoroughly. After we find a place to settle down, I will share the records of the exploration with everyone.”

The Recording Gem’s contents couldn’t be counterfeited, or at least, no one had this ability among them. An incredible skill in alchemy was needed to make this possible.

Hearing Long Haochen say so, Luc Xi immediately felt embarrassed, and calmly nodded at Long Haochen.

Long Haochen spoke out, “Let’s leave from here then. Right now, I recovered the enemies’ corpses. A third of the magical crystals will be yours to keep.”

Luc Xi hurried to react, “There’s no need, we didn’t do much anyway.”

Long Haochen shook his head, and said in a clearly resolute tone, “We are now a single team, and we’ll share the gains in accordance to how we agreed on it. Without you, my teammates wouldn’t have lasted long enough for me to return, so let’s do it as I said. Time to set off! ”

The backlash from Cai’er’s spiritual stove caused Long Haochen to feel extremely fidgety. The gentleness he had during normal times was gone and replaced by some aggressiveness. But with the strength and ability he showed there, everything he said felt as a matter of course, at least the members of the 4th soldier grade Demon Hunt Squad were secretly thankful. A third of the spoils from such a huge amount of Nightmare Devil Horses and Grand Fiends was no small figure.

Everyone once again set out for their journey, and although they were for the most part in a very weak state, having wounded people among them, their bodies far exceeded ordinary people’s in strength as fighters. As dawn touched upon the land, the party of thirteen didn’t make haste to leave the mountain ridge, instead penetrating even more deeply under Long Haochen’s lead. After crossing two mountain peaks, they finally stopped in an area full of shrubs.

It was a valley with a natural crevice in the midst of it, just the right place for them to temporarily stay at. When they decided to camp there, it was already the middle of the day.

Luc Xi became the most occupied member of the team, unceasingly recovering his spiritual energy as he took the duty of healing everyone.

What finally relaxed Long Haochen a bit was that Cai’er gradually recovered her ability to move. At this time, he was sitting close to the entrance of the crevice, letting Cai’er temporarily lean against his body.

Cai’er was seemingly very calm: she was now blind, mute, deaf, and unable to taste, but it appeared as though she didn’t care about all of this, only calmly nestling in Long Haochen’s embrace.

While the others were resting, Han Daosi took over the duty of keeping watch, and Haochen pulled Cai’er by the hand, using his thumb to form some words in Cai’er’s palm. Slowly he wrote the narration of the whole course of the events that happened back in the Desolate Hissing Cavern.

Cai’er was unable to listen, but could sense and was actually rather enjoying this kind of feeling. As she let Long Haochen write characters on her palm, she nestled against him, just like the little big McDull was nestling in Chen Ying’er’s embrace

“Lin Xin, come here for a bit. I have something to tell you.” Li Xin suddenly waved to Lin Xin, hinting him to follow her.

Lin Xin blanked, slightly wrinkling his brows, but still chose to follow Li Xin inside of the crevice. Long Haochen just gave him a puzzled glance, but didn’t say anything about it. In his heart, Li Xin was one of the most trusted people he had. He comprehended the character of this big sister of his pretty well, and didn’t know what formerly happened inside of the cavern. Instead of keeping track of that, he continued to write some words in her palm.

The others were cultivating on the side, and didn’t pay attention to them.

The crevice was very deep, and they kept walking until they were over two hundred meters deep in the mountain. When gazing deep inside, one would be able to see a marvellous scene.

Li Xin kept walking in, until no one remained in her view, before finally stopping in her tracks.

Lin Xin stopped close behind with an apathetic face, simply using his fingers to comb his own dark green hair, plaiting a braid after putting it together and leaning on a stone of the wall, “What did you call me here for? Trying to kill me in order to silence me?”

Li Xin unhappily declared, “As a man, what are you doing with such long hair. You’re even doing something such as a plaiting it. In my opinion, you simply seem closer to a girl.”

Lin Xin curled his lips, replying, “Hey, it’s called being handsome, okay? Don’t talk drivel just because you don’t understand it.”

Li Xin disdainfully replied, “Handsome? What farts! Speak of it again when you are half as handsome as Long Haochen.”

A temporary change appeared in Lin Xin’s expression, and his muscles immediately hardened, “Did you just call me to bully me? Sure, Captain has better looks than me, but he looks even more like a girl than me!”

Li Xin suddenly became silent, looking at Lin Xin without saying any further words.

Feeling the strange atmosphere, Lin Xin couldn’t help but look at her, puzzled.

“Sorry.” Li Xin slightly lowered her head, “It was my bad, I shouldn’t have forced you into sharing a part of your past, much less recall those painful events to your mind.”

Lin Xin slightly trembled, and an unremovable pain filled the depths of his eyes. Lowering his head, he threw the hair he had been combing all this time to his back.

“It’s okay, someone would have questioned me sooner or later. To be honest, deep inside I feel much better now.” Lin Xin said in a pained expression.

Li Xin unhurriedly walked to his side, “I should get punishment for making such an error. Then, curse me back. Or else, strike me, and I’ll feel better.” Her expression was very serious. Standing by Lin Xin’s side, she offered her vigorous yet delicate figure as a sort of self-sacrifice.

Lin Xin’s expression changed, “Miss, stop joking, won’t you? Would I even be capable of hitting you?”

“I won’t hit back.” Li Xin hurried to emphasise.

“That’s it? I’m heading back then.” Lin Xin unhappily declared, and turned to head in the opposite direction to leave.

Li Xin stamped her foot, “I’m afraid of everyone else’s judgment. Don’t head back like that, or how would I even be able to face your teammates?”

“Enough.” Lin Xin abruptly turned back, furiously replying, ”What use will I have to hit you? You didn’t say anything wrong, I’m just a coward that didn’t have the guts to learn offensive magic. Even if I hit you and curse you, don’t tell me that you believe that it would be enough to lessen the pain in my heart? Hmpf…”

Lin Xin’s words ended with a grunting sound, and his originally large eyes appeared even larger as he glared at her.

If someone else was present, he would have described this scene as astonishing.

A pretty and vigorous knight was at this moment grabbing the head of a mage, pushing him against the stone wall behind him, before fiercely kissing his lips.

  • Robin

And I make amends, never saw that coming. 😉

    • Daene Kendrick

Well, after thinking on it I can say that out of all the single male characters we have thus come across in the series. Physically he is supposedly the most attractive after LHC. Secondly he does come from a very influential and powerful lineage. He has great social skills and future prospects. Though I could see her with Han Yu more due to their similar skill sets Lin Xin is the closest to LHC next to Li Xin and Cai’er out of all the members of this generation of DHS’s.
      Go get you sum boyo!!!!!

Han Yu my friend what prospects do you have to look forward to, you had better quickly grasp a relationship with that female summoner from the 4th Squad she appears to be the last remaining eligible bachelorette of this generation. The women are swiftly being claimed lol.

      • Robin

Characterwise I didn’t see them in this kind of relationship. But what I was shocked the most about was her spontaneous and impulsive kiss. First she insulted him and then she assaulted him with her kiss. It was such a funny scene and so surprising. I loved it!
Poor Lin Xin, I bet he doesn’t even know how to handle the matter.

        • Evilage

Even thou i thought that this ship was possible i didnt think she would kiss him

          • Robin

No, right? I was totally stunned by this! And think about it, it will get even better when those two lurk around each other during the trip back. And leave the cave with totally blushed faces. ^^
What do you think how Lin Xin will react? XD

          • Evilage

Reading this i cant stop laughing
li xin was blushing hard when she kissed him, when did she fall for him, if they had taken some time and made her fall for him it would be nice. Now it feels rushed and that really suprised me

          • Jonathan Hurd

Well to be fair other than LHC she has known Lin Xin the longest and he is somewhat similar in looks to LHC. So I guess that could be part of the attraction. The whole kiss thing is what is really throwing me off in the end honestly. Maybe its partly repentance. Maybe heat of the battle thing. I guess we’ll find out more after this.

          • Robin

Well, a kiss doesn’t mean that they instantly become a couple. There are many reasons why she could have kissed him. I think it is a certain form of retribution.

          • TheHumpingBear

Knights and Assassin are well suited to each due to their respective traits. A stalwart defender and a peerless melee attack specialist. Now you have a fighter paired with a mage, which according to the novel itself, are also equally suited to each other. Whether this is shipping by proxy, I’m not sure, but I’ll let it slide.

          • Jonathan Hurd

To be fair the pairing for mages was kind of a little different than the Assassin Knight one. The point of the Knight was that they draw attention away from the Assassin because of their massive holy aura and how eye catching they are giving the Assassin a place to hide in. The Mage was supposed to be paired with Shield warrior I believe for personal protection. The idea behind that was there is no real way to hide the Mage, but the mage is also unrivaled damage. So the Warrior acts as meat shield personally for the mage and makes sure the spell casting goes off.

I think the difference in these cases between Shield warriors and Guardian Knights is that Guardian Knights work as the soul of the team working to protect everyone and be the focus of the foes. The Shield warrior is more personally dedicated to the Mages protection and making sure the Mages spells go off without a hitch. So I would assume that the Guardian Knight is proactively going out to meet the strongest foes and detain them while the Shield Warrior might be sticking back more waiting to see if someone comes towards the mage, but that is just how I assume things might work. As we have seen the way jobs are handled depends a lot on how the people are grouped and with who.

          • Luke Confidential

Yeah, unless your Shield Warrior is a Berserker and you have a Shield Mage instead =D

          • Jonathan Hurd

Yeah the pairing thing gets a bit weird with LHC’s team, lol.

          • Jonathan Hurd

I’m definitely getting some of that vibe from this. I would honestly say both of them will need to work out their feelings after this. I am not sure it would be the wisest grounds to build a relationship starting on shame, guilt, and anger. Give it some time talk and find common ground to stabilize then if they actually possess those feelings for each other then go for a relationship, imo. This is also admittedly the worst place to calmly think these kind of things over or get distracted.

          • Chandra Andrean

after i read last paragraph, i actually doubted what i just read, and reread those… then i went WTH? never saw that coming, seriously

          • Daene Kendrick

LOL, I thik the insult was her being uncomfortable with her feelings at the time unsure of herself. She was probably attracted to him, had her doubts about his character, then confronted him and realized how wrong she was and is unsure how to cope with her new understanding of him. Remeber she always said if LHC had been older she would swallow him up well Lin XIn is of age and only fails in comparison to LHC in attractiveness.

          • Luke Confidential

And badassness, of course, but a Retribution Knight and a Barrier Mage do make a hell of a Battle Couple.

      • Luke Confidential

Lin Xin is closest to LHC after Han Yu after Cai-Er you mean. Granted Han Yu refuses to let their relationship become one of equals, but they are still rather close.

EDIT: I wonder if the alliance has some sort of mandate that temple members must procreate? Lin Xin always gave off the impression of not really being the type to be into women, though he may just be metro.

        • Robin

From the males in the team it is legit. There Lin Xin is the closest to Haochen after Han Yu. They both know him a little better than for example Sima Xian.

It would be logical if they were motivated to have offspring. The situation of humanity is dire. They are less numerous than the demons and mostly lack power. And it is most likely that power breeds power as the many powerful children of Temple Leaders proves.

    Thanks for the chapter

I didn’t see that coming. Li and Lin heh not bad, not bad at all.

  • lordcattank

thank you very much for the chapter . one day he will regret that he didn’t learn offensive magic

    • Jonathan Hurd

Honestly I don’t think there is a day that he doesn’t regret that he has limited himself like this. He has come up with ways to work around that and knowing his personality I don’t think he would have even bothered to apply for the Demon Hunt Selection if he felt he would only hold his team back. Still it is a constant shame for him. He knows he is disappointing his grandfather probably his only family left after the accident. He also realizes that the situation Li Xin talked about could happen and then his teams lives could be lost and it would be all his fault. Still it is not so easy to just overcome something like watching both your parents dying at the hands of his fathers own magic. To me personally I am honestly amazed Lin Xin can even bring himself to use magic at all. After what happened it would not be unheard of to shut down mentally and withdraw within himself. The fact that he is fighting despite this is amazing to me personally.

I think it is a good thing that the pain and shame he has been feeling has been brought out and shared with his teammates. This way he doesn’t feel like he has to keep it a secret or hide it from them. I feel their acceptance has helped to greatly relieve some of the hurt he has felt.

I feel given time and with their help, for him the fear of losing them because of this choice will push him to start to work to overcome his fear of offensive magic. If he could achieve that he honestly would easily be the best mage of the entire selection exam. He has very few flaws overall except the offensive magic and with his amazing utility and control if he could actually work offensive magic I would honestly put him down as the third best member of the 21st GGDSH.

      • Luke Confidential

‘I would honestly put him down as the third best member of the 21st GGDSH.’

….until Ying-Er grows into her Chaos Body and can freely summon any magical beast freely according to the needs of the situation.

And if it dies and they still need its powers she can feed its crystal to her pig for round 2.

        • Jonathan Hurd

I have to see what she can do when she gets all those spells. It will definitely be a power boost but not sure if that can overcome Lin Xin’s alchemy utility. Though at that point I think all of them will be integral members of the DHS squad so it won’t matter much about comparing the team couldn’t afford to lose any of them.

Also gotta say the summon then use the dead summons crystal plan makes perfect sense just sounds a bit morbid, lol. Though if hes dead I see no reason to not use the materials left behind it just makes me a little sad.

          • Luke Confidential

It’s not learning spells, it’s using one spell [Creature Summoning Gate] that she already knows. Her special body allows her to summon any magical beast in existence, and once her cultivation level reaches the right point she can select the beast according to her own desires.

          • Jonathan Hurd

That does sound pretty awesome. Part of me really wishes we got a better understanding of the Spiritual Temples capabilities. From what we know some Summoners have a certain disposition to certain things like with the 4th squads plant summoner. I am curious just what it means in the end to have this body of chaos. I wonder if the whole randomness will be completely removed when she does hit the 7th step or if it will become more guided. From what the novel said it seems like she can’t learn any summoning spells right now, but at 7th step it said she would learn all for her step. I guess we’ll find out exactly what those words mean by the end.

          • Robin

My guess is that she still will keep some of her unpredictability left even after growing into her body. Maybe it won’t be sheep anymore but something strong, but her inability to correctly get what she wants makes her truly adorable.

          • Daene Kendrick

I think the unpredictability will only remain with the type of creature but not the step of the creature. And using the other summoner spells she will be able to summon a specific type of creatures, like the one does plants etc. I think the spells are for summoning creatures speciffically of their step where the Gate spell is for summoning truly powerful creatures like 8th step and above.

          • Robin

            That’s what I also think.

  • ashReadsManga

Thanks for the chapter…LOL good to know that normal stuff do happen(apart from the Chen-cai spiritual closeness)

  • Amir Tal

when did Lin Xin shared his past?

    • Robin

Last Chapter: his father tried a new skill and Both his Parents died, while he was watching.. 🙁

      • Luke Confidential

IIRC his father wasn’t just trying a new skill, he was researching/experimenting/developing one.

        • Jonathan Hurd

It was supposedly one of the most powerful offensive fire spells that existed. While trying to understand it he made a mistake and it erupted in his face.

          • Luke Confidential

For the record, I’m still calling Lin Xin learning to directly manipulate fire magic to attack as needed rather than learning structured offensive fire spells.

          • Jonathan Hurd

Admittedly I would enjoy that kind of scenario. It would be kind of cool if Lin Xin found himself in the same position as before, basically everyone indisposed but him and they need him to attack, again. Then this time he forces him self to attack with his fire magic to protect everyone. That would definitely be fun to watch.

    • hurik

Read chapter 253 again … The end was missing …

How often you can See new chapters Here?

  • Majk

Saw that coming and you know what I ship it

    • Robin

Well, as I said, I make amends. 😉

      • Jonathan Hurd

Am I the only one kind of confused by that last part, lol? I guess I kind of get it where it might have come from. This is just a bit too abrupt for me… Ah well I’m okay with shipping it sure lets go with that.

        • Robin

I am still not seing them become a couple soon. They are so not lovey-dovey…

          • Daene Kendrick

The way I see it is its physical attraction, stress, and a deeper understanding. It was a impulse decision in the preview you notice that she is for once speechless and not at all composed.

          • Robin

Impulsive yes, that fits her character well. Let’s say I don’t think it as absurd as I have before. But it still isn’t my first choice. They would make an interesting couple with a lot of fighting and bickering, but not stranger than Yang Wenzhao and the little summoner.

          • Luke Confidential

He can’t have her. She shall be the first of Austin Griffon’s brides. [I wonder if a magical beast that reaches the 10th step can take a human form…]

          • Jonathan Hurd

Lol, Luke you are more sold on marrying her off to Austin Griffin than her Grandparents are to marrying her to Yang Wenzhao, haha.

          • Luke Confidential

Shipper On Deck, ready the cannons!

          • Jonathan Hurd

            Aye aye Captain!

  • Daene Kendrick

Never again will Lin Xin pull his hair out about having to sacrifice profits on the battle field due to not having the capability of collecting them. LHC has fixed all problems lol.

    • Robin

Convenient, isn’t it? It was funny how he just announced that he will clear the battlefield and simply took everything. They will never have problems while shopping, I guess.

    • Luke Confidential

Lin Xin would NEVER pull his hair out. Clearly he expresses his frustration in other ways, he values his long luscious green locks too much.

  • Daene Kendrick

Thanks for the chapter, is anyone else having trouble viewing the preview?

  • Thanks for the chapter! Btw Manhua is taking forever to update.

  • kirindas

Thanks for the new chapter! That relationship developed fast.

  • Ragnarok

Kinda felt that was coming… Not too hard to believe really. Thanks for the chapter!

    • Jonathan Hurd

For me a sudden kiss assault is a bit hard for me to predict, but then again my brain is filled with sitting and saying ‘Okay LHC use necromancy or Hao Yue get a fourth and fifth head….’ I don’t care which of those two happens first I just want them.

      • Luke Confidential

Gonna be honest here. I REALLY don’t want him learning epic necromancy shit until the others in the squad have had a chance to catch up a bit. Right now the imbalance is too extreme.

Granted this author has a tendency of pulling that crap >_<

        • Jonathan Hurd

To be fair if he does learn all the Necromancy spells that would probably be so much of a power boost to him that he would have no need to take from their supplies and get more secret skills. More for everyone else, wooh! Though he does need to learn a few more Guardian Skills he is already set in Necro and Retribution abilities to even the highest levels. I understand your worry and I can sympathize. I also think the power jump he potentially got from all these spells might be a bit much. On the brightside knowing LHC’s personallity and with all their income he will definetly make sure that everyone gets some power ups. He probably is going to keep his necromancy under wraps for most parts until he goes to Hao Yue’s world. For one no witnesses there, and there are so many undead to use it against… 😀

      • Ragnarok

When totobro mentioned a twist, the event itself became easier to predict, but it still almost came out of nowhere in the text. Super abrupt lol.

  • Evilage

Oh god yes! My instinct was correct
    wow
now all i wanna see is cai’er meet haochen’s parents

    • Luke Confidential

This is assuming they’re still alive.

      • Jonathan Hurd

Don’t talk like that! Watching Cai’er meet LHC’s parents is too adorable an idea to imagine. I mean its one thing to meet your girlfriends father and mother who are 7th step and try to kill you. What if Long Xingyu reacts badly. This might get all sorts of fun to watch.

        • Luke Confidential

This is Long Xingyu we’re talking about… he seemed like he didn’t care about anything about LHC’s development and general well-being. He’s the last parent I’d ever consider protective in terms of relationships.

Even if he did, he’s on good terms with Cai-er’s old man, he taught him Condemning Revolving Sword. [Or at least that’s the story we’ve been told, who knows maybe the dirty rotten assassin actually stole the technique :P]

          • Jonathan Hurd

Its not so much that Long Xingyu doesn’t care its that he understands LHC will never grow if he is forever relying on Long Xingyu. Xingyu also has responsibilities tied to his being a 9th rank Knight one of which being making sure LHC grows correctly and the other is protecting the human race. How could he be LHC’s dad and role model if he threw away humanity to watch over his son? I feel like Xingyu really does love his son and care about him. Sometimes letting go is the right thing to do.

I would have to admit there is also a clear difference between young men and young women when it comes to relationships. I think Xingyu will want to meet this girl his Son has fallen for and make sure she is worthy of him just like Sheng Yue wanted to now if LHC was worthy of Cai’er. Probably not have as extreme of a situation as the one LHC found himself in admittedly. Also LHC is on way better terms with his parents than Cai’er was so a reasonable discussion is possible this time.

          • Luke Confidential

            Of course he cares.

But he cares in a reserved, distant fatherly way. “Stay safe, grow up strong and make me proud son” sort of way.

          • Jonathan Hurd

I think a lot of that comes from the fact that he knew he couldn’t be there for LHC to protect him. It was more important to try and keep him at a distance so the inevitable separation would at least be a little easier.

          • Robin

He didn’t know Haochen for about 10 years and the short time they spent together was not enough for them to build up a really close father-son relationship. I am sure he cares but his main principle during their time together was to make Haochen stronger and to make the best out of his potential. He stripped him off his own emotional support when he took his mother away which was also partially to make him stronger. There is love and pride in the relationship, but not the overly protective kind. More like: I help you from the shadows. He prepared for grandpa Yang to keep an eye on his son, knowing that he would protect him and handed his education to the hall master at Hao Yue City, who he knew as well. But he never told Haochen to rely on these people but succeed on his own.
I doubt that he will have anything against their relationship. Cai’er is an elite as his son and he will clearly grasp the possibilities this relationship brings. Not only in regard to possible successors but also on the battlefield with such a potent knight-assassin pairing. His mother will simply be overjoyed and I guess his father a little reserved towards Cai’er as he was with Haochen in the beginning as well.
I would love to see that.

          • Tetra Avalon

Rather than reserved, I think he just wants LHC to grow strong as a knight, since he knows his potential. As much of a father that he wants to be, his strength and potential strength of his son are too strong to be ignored. They are constantly at war after all :/

          • Daene Kendrick

First off, he has been tracking his son and wife for 10 years. He also stated that even though he found them he only had 3 years he could spend with them because of his duties. You could tell just by the fact he spent a decade searching for them that he loves them and wants to be with them. Also he saw the potential within his son and being as his personality is strict even commented by others through out the series so far he never pushed his son in training further then he could handle, the medicinal hot springs the food etc.

LHC has never been coddled by anyone. It is not in his personality to be coddled or pampered, he wants to test himself as much as others want him to succeed. I think Father and Mother have already received word from the alliance about their sons progress and strength aswell as the budding relationship with Cai’er and will be fully on board because they know they can trust LHC’s descisions as he is 1 their son and 2 growing into his own self. The man he needs to be both for himself and humanity. Remember he said in the letter he left that neither himself or the mother wanted to be seperated from him and that if they didnt reunite with him he was to come find them. Its more tough love then coddling that is the way i see it and its what best for LHC to have people push and challenge him to become better.

          • Robin

I agree with you on most parts, but since his father is missing and we don’t know anything about his mother, it is unlikely that they already know.

  • Shengli

I swear everyone is more interested in the drama that happens in this novel than the action, including me xD i also want Haoyue to evolve again

    • Robin

It is the mixture that makes it amazing.

    • Evilage

I actually found someone who has the same tastes as me

    • lbartolo

Is there action in this story? All I see is sweet romance and good drama xD

  • VanillaCustardPie

    Thank you~

  • Sylali

“declaring after some time of reflexion” reflexion -> reflection (i think this is what you meant here)

also… that ending… didn’t see that coming though apparently many others did

    • fixed thanks

      • Sylali

        welcome 🙂

    • Jonathan Hurd

Was just about to comment that correction, you beat me to it. Also if it makes you feel better I’m with you on the not seeing that ending coming… That… was abrupt, Lol.

      • Sylali

Very in my opinion. Grats to those who shipped it

        • Jonathan Hurd

Personally feel its a bit weird to ship two people with names so similar that the only difference is adding a letter, but that is just me.

          • Robin

            Definitely not just you…

          • Daene Kendrick

lol a man and wife with the same first name lol

          • Robin

Makes the family joining easier and interesting.

          • Jonathan Hurd

That actually brings up an interesting point, how would you differentiate them when calling their names if they took on the others last name and had the same first one. Would they default to a nickname for one or is there something like Mr. and Mrs. in Chinese writing?

          • Tetra Avalon

Are the names similar in Chinese, though? It is really funny if they are, I will admit xD

          • Robin

Maybe you voice the names differently or their meaning is most likely different in the end. You find that often with chinese names, they look the same in westernized writing but are completely different in the chinese signs. But you would need to ask Toto about that. ^^°

          • Luke Confidential

Methinks one is pronounced Zjhin and the other more of a Xin as westerners would pronounce it.

          • Robin

Toto says they are similar like for example Leo and Lea. So not much difference there.

          • Jonathan Hurd

Thank you Robin and mighty Toto for the clarification. 😀

          • Robin

            You are welcome. ^^
            I was also very curious.

  • Jonathan Hurd

“As she let Long Haochen write characters on her palm, she nestled against him, just like the little big McDull was nestling in Chen Ying’er’s embrace”

I think instead of ‘little big McDull’ you meant ‘little pig McDull’

Other than that Thank you for the translation Toto 😀

    • Robin

oops, true. Little big would be a nice contradiction. ^__^°

      • Daene Kendrick

Hey you dont know what porky is packing lol

        • Jonathan Hurd

Bad Daene bad! Now I have to go and try to forcefully remove that mental image!

          • Robin

*laugh* Well, I also have a nice mental image thanks to this comment. But it is better than Li Xin and Lin Xin kissing. 😉

          • Luke Confidential

It’s a pig, obviously it’s packing a corkscrew driver. [Farmer speaking.]

          • Jonathan Hurd

/me Comes back after mental purge looks at comments…. walks away for new mental purge…. brb.

          • Daene Kendrick

LOL Its ok Jon you can handle this. Litle big McDull is awaiting your approval.

          • Luke Confidential

Oh Little big McDull is waiting for him alright 😉 😉

          • Jonathan Hurd

Now I’m more scared of the piggy than I think those Fiend’s were when he transformed into a birdy demon.

  • Zeth

    Thank you!

  • agila0212

Thank you for the new chapter 🙂

  • Xias

    Thanks for the chapter.

    But…
…I will NEVER accept this ending!
Li Xin has always been, is and will always be one of LHC´s future harem members.
Never ever will I accept that she couples up with Lin Xin! NEVEEEEEEEERRRR!!
    T_T

    • Robin

      Haochen and a harem? o.O°

      • Daene Kendrick

LOL I never see this series becoming a Harem. LHC is to honorable and Cai’er will kill anyone who threatens their love.

        • Luke Confidential

You say that now… and then LHC and Cai-Er and Austin Griffon destroy the Demon God Pillars and rescue humanity from the demons forever… but Cai-Er dies in the final battle.

Cue LHC becoming the God Emperor of Humanity [by accident while he continually waves off the offers of authority/power/wealth/women] and acquiring massive harem.

A massive harem that includes LiN Xin.

          • Daene Kendrick

Stop trying to live vicariously through LHC. Not to mention I don’t even think LHC would be able to live through the loss of Cai’er

          • Luke Confidential

He would live, but he would likely mourn for decades.

          • Jonathan Hurd

            First off… DON”T KILL OFF CAI’ER THAT MAKES ME TOO SAD… T.T

Second, from what was mentioned the first time Hao Yue fused with LHC we do know that at least Yin Er was charmed by him from the bottom of her heart. Maybe even Wang Yuanyuan too. I would also say if LHC demanded it Cai’er would probably give into anything. The only problem for me is the idea of a harem goes against the Knight vow of loyalty in my book. That is something LHC could not do. Even without Cai’er I don’t imagine him sharing his love as male and female with more than one person.

          • Robin

So many theories… The kiss really stirred us all up so – good job, author!
Haochenis not the type for a harem. He isn’t even able to kiss his girlfriend easily whithout a life and death situation. I think this possibility abssurd. Also he values the connections to his team members and connections too much, which has been sllowly instilled and natured during all the ~150 chaps or more since the gathering of the main players started. Such a sudden turn that flips the whole setting is unlikely in my opinion.

As about Cai’er dying, I hope she won’t or if she really dies, it probably won’t be forever. More like with Xiao Wu who can be safed in the end. In Cai’er’s case, she falling into a coma after using the full force of the stove is the most likely option in my opinion. And Haochen will do the impossible and save her for a high price. But it’s only a guess.

          • Luke Confidential

My theory was more of result of the end of the story. Not a mid-story plot device like Xiao Wu.

          • Robin

But that would be too harsh. After having him fight all the bigshots and safe the world to kill his love. No, I don’t see that coming. And if it really would, I guess Haochen would either stay single and more secluded than his character normally would allow or follow her as soon as he thinks the world can do without him.

          • Nerurin~Pyon

Yeah, and he’ll probably die while mourning.

          • Luke Confidential

Powerful People in this setting live for over 200 years just by virtue of their Spiritual Energy.

Powerful Necromancers can live even longer, though he would have had to have participated in some sort of life extension rite prior to her death because he certainly wouldn’t be seeking to extend his life after that experience.

          • All I Care is Love

Hey will really Cai’er be dead forever? i hope she doesn’t coz if she did.. then i’ll drop this… I don’t like sad tragic story in the end… If she dies it’s ok as long as she resurrected… but if not, what’s the use of all of this thing? i don’t care if LHC becomes the most powerful in the end if the love story is broken tragically forever.. 🙁 and i won’t dare even to reco this to my friends either :l

          • Luke Confidential

I’m just speculating here lol, I can’t read Chinese [and I wouldn’t put myself through the torture of running the RAW through translation software.]

As for my theory, yes she remains dead forever… unless LHC discovers that within Holy Necromancy there is a resurrection spell and he drive himself to master it.

[But if that is the case, then the whole God Emperor Harem thing falls by the wayside, unless he doesn’t make this discovery until well over a century past her death.]

          • Ultimate Fan

Will Cai’er be resurrected in the end?

    • Alex Drake

This was never a harem. I don’t know what you’ve been smoking

      • Robin

I think we had this discussion some chaps ago when Li Xin hugged Haochen. And well, our opinions on this will probably never waver. 😀

        • Allstarall

I would kill someone (most likely the harem members) if Hao got a harem. KILL AND FREAKN DESTROY THEM!!! I have a hate for harems. Just my preference though.

And Now shipping Li and Lin!! Xin!!

          • Luke Confidential

MOST Harems seriously suck… because it’s nothing more than a baiting game with an MC who can’t make up his fucking mind and lacks the balls to CHOOSE THEM ALL and actually have a real harem.

Real harems like that are extremely rare in Japanese fiction. I haven’t encountered any in Xianxia yet [only read Douluo Dalu, Coiling Dragon and SYWZ thus far] but have heard they’re more common here.

          • Lycan

ATG is like that on WW and its really good 🙂 P.S. i comply agree kinda why i stop reading Japanese harems

          • Luke Confidential

Indeed, that genre name is such a misnomer.

We need a new genre name for that… ‘Faux Harem’ or ‘Galge’ [short for Gal Game, where this type of harem first became popular AFAIK.]

Save ‘Harem’ for stories where the MC ACTUALLY BUILDS A HAREM.

            Gotta wed ’em all.

          • Robin

In my opinion most harem stories are simply unnecessary and uninteresting. Competition is okay but true harem is boring.

      • Ultimate Fan

I agree.. and i am for now happy and contented he only had Cai’er… However, that Princess whom Long Haochen had spared before and therefore turn to help his team to conceal their identity would enter the fry which would basically be Cai’er’s rival in the future * though i believe Long Haochen won’t give her a damn).

    • Jonathan Hurd

Look at it this way, if LHC was ever going to have a future harem Lin Xin is cute enough to be a part of it too so they could both join…

      • Luke Confidential

You are right Lin Xin is cute enough to be part of it… though there’s no SHE involved here 😛

  • Anto Wibowo

    Thank you for the chapter!

  • ZaX

Whaaat just happened?! Thanks for the chapter

    • Robin

      Surprise, surprise ^^
Nothing better than a litten unanticipated romance to carry the readers over the probable relatively eventless return trip.

      • Cyrs

Not like we need it. If the author wanted it, an “eventless return trip” could be summed up in less than 2 paragraphs. If he wanted to put Li Xin and Lin Xin together, the return trip could be used to “build up” romantic feelings between the 2. But having her kiss him right off the bat, when she has shown nothing but mistrust towards him all this time…makes no sense.

        • Robin

Well, it actually does. If a relationship is really what we see beginning here (which I still not really believe), then I have to say that some relationships start backwards. Not with wooing or a slow build up but with a crash. It probably is not love or lust that lets her kiss him. At least not mainly. And if I am right, there are many options to make this situation funny and interesting.

          • Cyrs

Li Xin doesn’t seem like the kind of person that would use a kiss as “repayment,” if she didn’t like that person to begin with. So I don’t understand what you mean by: ” It probably is not love or lust that lets her kiss him.”

          • Robin

You left my addition out of the picture: At least not mainly. There are feelings below it which draw her to him. Only that she isn’t at this point yet where love or lust would be her main driving force. It is more likely anger and embarassement about the situation. Never heard about a female offering something she values high, like her first kiss for example, to someone to make amends?

          • Cyrs

I have heard of that type of situation before. But usually, the female already likes the male in question, and is just using “making amends” as an excuse to kiss said person. I’ve never seen it done where said female was not aware of any underlying feelings. But what you’ve said is interesting, So I’m a little interested in the upcoming trainwreck.

          • Robin

Being female myslef, I think it possible to do so out of anger of being refused another option of retribution in this kind of setting. What she fears the most is that Haochen learns about her behavior and gets angry with her, maybe even changing his behavior towards her. Sure, there has to be some emotional underlayment, but she doesn’t need to be really aware of it at this point.

          • Cyrs

Hahaha…since you put it that way, it makes a lot more sense. Seems like you understood the situation better than me.

  • AnarchyDev

    Thanks for the chapter.

  • Katrex

“Don’t get the wrong idea now we’re even ok!” *runs out of the cave* “Im going to scout for enemies”

    • Luke Confidential

I would be such disappoint if Li Xin is a tsundere.

Granted we’ve already got a mild yandere in this story, so it’s probably coming.

      • Jonathan Hurd

        Mild but adorable Yandere, 😀

        • Luke Confidential

          Yandere is best dere

          • Katrex

What can I say… called it

  • Cyrs

Such an unrealistic romantic development. If you’re gonna make a big scene out of the romance of 2 (somewhat) minor characters, at least build up to it first. Li Xin has never cared about Lin Xin, but now she’s kissing him all of a sudden…makes no sense XD.

    • siva

Yo ever heard of tsundere …. from the beginning she was scolding lin xin …. I knew it from the first time they met at auction house

      • Robin

Isn’t this assumption a little far fetched? I am a supporter of the identification of hidden hints regarding such matters, but at that time she was simply trying to defend her little bro from being conned.

      • Cyrs

Your assumption is way off base, from the beginning she was just protecting LHC from being conned (as a sister should). Plus, in her interactions towards Lin Xin, Li Xin has not shown any romantic interest towards him. In fact, she has shown numerous times that she does not trust him, especially since he caused trouble for LHC. I am familiar with tsunderes, and tsunderes will always show clear as day hints that they like someone. Since Li Xin has never done that, she isn’t a tsundere.

    • Luke Confidential

As much as I hate to say it…

Li Xin is a woman. Many of them are spontaneous and irrational like this. It’s all spur of the moment based on fleeting feelings that aren’t necessarily understood.

      • Koon Agnis

Um as a women with many female friends I cannot agree with that comment. Most women, especially mature women don’t act spontaneously and irrationally at all. Especially when it comes to love.

        • Luke Confidential

How mature do you expect Li Xin to be, particularly in the field of romance? She’s certainly less than 20 years old and spent her life training as a Knight rather than pursuing more typical life pursuits of young women.

          • Koon Agnis

Yeah and I’m 18 with several 17 year old female friends. Age isn’t an excuse for immaturity in love. Neither is inexperience as while I’ve never had a boyfriend but I take all dates very seriously (not trying to just use myself as an example, but it’s the quickest real life comparison i can think of) but yeah unless she’s dumb, most girls don’t just randomly fall in love or act irrationally. We actually think things out. We’re not ruled by our emotions.

    • IvyHav3n

They travelled together for a while, that gives room to develop affection.

      • Cyrs

The author didn’t show any such developing affection. As a matter of fact, he did the exact opposite. Li Xin has been shown to not have a good impression of Lin Xin…she was always distrustful towards him. It was that mistrust and bad impression, that lead her to step on the landmine of his past and offend Lin Xin. Considering all this, what possible affection could exist at this point?

        • IvyHav3n

That’s true, but they still had some sort of affection becuase they were in the same team.

    • craptonium

No such thing as unrealistic romantic development.
I know quite a few real life people who you would call unrealistic in their romance.
Love is as often irrational as it can be rational.
If it weren’t like this, there wouldn’t be women aborting children, divorces, and such things happening ever in extreme worst case scenarios.
Point being that love ain’t perfect and doesn’t have an absolute formula or logic, doesn’t always start up and end up rationally, and that romance comes in all shades and not just black and white, or just white.
This talk of realistic/unrealistic romance is just pseudo-intellectual idealistic bullshitting of subjective expectations and perceptions of what romance should be, rather than what it is, and it is arbitrary, it is individualistic, it is varied.
I find romance by singing in front of a window to be stupid, but it doesn’t change the fact that it does happen, it does mean something to some couples, it does have an effect in some cases, and it is valid. To go and call it unrealistic would make me even stupider.

      • Ryan

        Well said.

  • Boralis

    Bruh.

  • termt

Well, that was a disappointing development. Might be along the “can’t think of anything else to repent” lines, but still.

  • alex alex

guys, this author is pretty bad at romantic stuff (its VERY random sometimes), try to read “mad god” and you will see

    • Robin

The development so far proves different. And if you read further you will even see that his love scenes are not as random as it might see on the first look.

  • RyokoZero

    Won’t ship this.

  • Cookie crazy

I am not bullshiting when I say that “I knew this was gonna happen”

  • megabadman16

Someone call the police lin xin just assulated lin xin

  • Stark

Why does he keep pulling his holy spirit sword out randomly? last chapter he use blue rain as dual swords but now all of sudden holy spirit sword is out. What is the point of even using that sword anymore? It’s a spiritual tier weapon how can it even compare to blue rain. I have no idea why the author keeps bringing it up. I hope it get’s destroyed.

  • Ryan

I, for one, did NOT see that coming.

  • AsurAstaroth720

Shoudnt it be th 21st GENERAL grade

  • I dont ship it. No waaaay.

  • AreUKiddingMe

ha, I actually saw that coming
